‘Haryana Physical Activities and Sports Policy-2015’ has been introduced to make Haryana a sports hub.
The policy lays stress on excelling in games and physical fitness. Award money has been increased and new awards have been added.
Cash prize of Rs six crore instead of Rs five crore will be given for winning gold medal, Rs four crore instead of Rs three crore for winning silver medal and Rs 2.5 crore instead of Rs two crore for winning bronze medal in Olympics or Paralympics’. Also, the prize money of medalists in other sports events have been increased substantially.
Various awards have been started like Eklavya, Maharana Pratap, Maharani Lakshmibai, Maharshi Vashisht, Vikramaditya Award, PTI, DPE and awards for associations with outstanding performance.
Focus is on developing international level sports infrastructure in the state. A programme namely ‘Vyayamshala’ is being started in the state. Also, emphasis is being laid on popularizing yoga.
Right to Job has been given to medal winners in international competitions. Pension and insurance schemes for sportspersons to secure their future.
