It is the priority of the State Government to maintain proper law and order situation in the state to provide safety to all citizens, especially women. There has been reduction in crime against women.
The agencies ensuring law and order are being strengthened and modernized.
The State Vigilance Bureau is being made active and modern to put a check on corruption. During the tenure of present State Government, the Bureau has conducted investigation in 36 cases to stop theft of revenue. In this investigation, 27 officers and employees were found guilty in 15 cases and it was recommended to recover Rs 14.44 lakh from them.
The State Vigilance Bureau has registered 23 new investigations during the tenure of present State Government. These include Kaushalya Dam Scam of Panchkula, irregularities in appointment of HCS, MGNREGA Scam of Ambala and scam of 8012 square yards of government land in NIT Faridabad.
Information Technology is being used on large scale in Police Department to strengthen the law and order and prevention of crime. A citizen portal namely ‘Harsamay’ has been set up on which people could register complaints from their homes. They would also get verification report and other important permissions online. The complainant would get information from time to time regarding the action being taken on his complaint. The officers would be able to keep an eye on the work of their subordinates and give necessary directions to them.
The concept of Zero FIR has been adopted to do away with the difficulties faced by people in lodging of their FIRs. Now, FIR could be lodged in any police station in the state regardless of place of occurrence where it has occurred.
As many as 500 bikes are being given to police department so that they could reach place of occurrence at the earliest.
A new scheme namely ‘Sadak Suraksha Kosh’ has been approved. The amount collected in this Kosh would be used for prevention of road accidents and to make people aware about road safety rules.
