CM gave in principal approval for the extension of Metro Rail Project from YMCA Chowk, Faridabad to Ballabhgarh.
Chandigarh, December 17- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today gave in principal approval for the extension of Metro Rail Project from YMCA Chowk, Faridabad to Ballabhgarh. Besides this, he also directed to explore the possibilities of Faridabad-Gurgaon Metro Link project.
The Chief Minister was presiding over the review meeting on various projects of Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation here today.
The Chief Minister was informed during the meeting that the total estimated cost of Ballabhgarh Metro Rail Link Project is Rs 600 crore. Of the total cost, the state share of Rs 470 crore and Centre Government share of Rs 130 crore has been proposed. He was also informed that a sum of Rs 10 crore has been released by the State Government for the project to Delhi-Metro Rail Link Nigam and a Detailed Project Report proposed to be sent to Centre Government in this regard.
The Chief Minister directed to accelerate the pace of work on these projects. He also suggested that linkage of Gurgaon and Faridabad through Metro is of paramount importance as it would serve to link important places like Badkhal and Surajkund. Besides this, he said that in view of the growing population of both the cities, the better public transport system is the need of the hour.
In the meeting, a presentation was given on Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation. The project is a joint venture of Haryana Government, Haryana Urban Development Department and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), under which partnership of state government is 51 per cent, HUDA 29 per cent and HSIIDC 21 per cent.
Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr P K Gupta who is also the Chairman of Mass Rapid Transport Corporation in the state, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Town and Country Planning Department, Mr P Raghvender Rao, Chief Executive, HUDA, Mr Vijender Singh, OSD to Chief Minister Mr Jawahar Yadav and officers were present in the meeting.
