Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) in every town of Haryana in next five years, besides laying sewerage pipelines
Chandigarh, December 17–Haryana Public Health Engineering Department has a plan to set up Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) in every town of the state in next five years, besides laying sewerage pipelines.
This was disclosed in a review meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department presided over by Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal here today.
He was informed that apart from this, 50 per cent households in the rural areas would be provided drinking water connections by the year 2017 which is 30 per cent at present. Efforts would also be made to provide all drinking water and sewerage facilities in the colonies regularized by the government. It was also informed in the meeting that special emphasis would also be laid on improving the quality of drinking water especially in rural areas.
The Chief Minister was apprised that the department would ensure water supply of 135LPCD in all 77 towns in the state. At present, 135 LPCD water is being supplied in 41 towns.
Those present in the meeting included Public Health Engineering Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Principal Secretary Mrs. Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. P.K. Das, Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Mr. Alok Nigam and other senior officers of the department.
