Scope of Kanyadan and Ladli schemes would be extended: CM 6-01-2015
Chandigarh, January 6 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the scope of Kanyadan and Ladli schemes, under which financial assistance is provided to the parents of the girl children, would be extended to achieve the aim of balancing the sex ratio in the state. Now all the daughters of the state would be able to avail the benefits of these schemes. The Chief Minister was presiding over the review meeting of ESI and Labour and Employment Department here today. He said that under the Kanyadan Scheme financial help was given to the labourers working in registered industrial areas of the State. Earlier, the benefits of the scheme was limited upto two daughters of a family, but now all the girl children of the family would be covered under this scheme. He said that to reframe various schemes for the welfare of industrial workers in the state, the help of NGOs or private agencies would be taken. With their help, the possibilities for the upliftment and development of workers and their families would be explored and identified so that better schemes could be launched for their welfare. The labourers and their children would be given training for skill development so that they could get better employment opportunities in future. The Chief Minister directed to prepare booklets, posters and other publicity material regarding various schemes being implemented by the Labour Department for spreading awareness among the labourers so that they could avail the benefits of these schemes. Apart from this, a registration campaign would be launched for labourers in Gurgaon and nearby areas so that they could be benefitted with all the schemes of Labour Department. Also, he directed the contractors engaged in the construction of buildings with a cost exceeding Rs five crore to take steps for ensuring the registration of their labourers, taking care of their livelihood and health and cleanliness. Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu urged the Chief Minister to launch a pilot project in Hisar under the National Level Career Sponsorship Scheme being run by the Central Government. Those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary, Mr D. S Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Sanjeev Kaushal and Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mrs Sumita Misra besides other senior officer of the State Government.
