  • CM announced several new awards for the sportspersons of Haryana. 12-01-2015

    Chandigarh, January 12- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today announced several new awards for the sportspersons of the state besides the Bhim award, the  highest award of the State Government given to the outstanding players of the Haryana. The Chief Minister made this announcement while unveiling the new sports policy,  'Haryana Physical Activities and Sports Policy-2015', to the people of the state in a state level function organized at Rohtak on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Eklavya Award Mr Manohar Lal announced Eklavya Award, the State award for junior players. On the pattern of Bhim Awards for senior players, state award for the junior players will be instituted. The awards will be given every year to five junior sportspersons of the state; three in individual events and two in team events. The ward will be given once to sportspersons of the Haryana state based on previous two years achievements. The award will comprise of cash amount of Rs. one lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. Maharana Pratap Award He announced Maharana Pratap award, the award for lifetime contribution in sports for men which will be given every year. The award will comprise of cash amount of Rs. two lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. The award for lifetime contribution in sports for women will be known as Rani Laxmi Bai award. The award will comprise cash amount of Rs. two lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. Guru Vashisht Award for Coaches Mr Manohar Lal announced that an annual award for coaches in the name of Guru Vashisht award will be given to one outstanding coach whether working in the Government or in private sector for the exemplary service rendered for excellence in sports. The award will comprise of cash amount of Rs. two lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. Vikrmaditaya award for Referee, Umpire and Judge The annual award for an outstanding referee, umpire or judge would be given every year in the name of Vikrmaditaya award. The award will comprise of cash amount of Rs. two lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. An award for the one best performing physical education teacher who have played exemplary role in promotion of sports in the education institution will be given on annual basis. The award will comprise of cash amount of Rs. one lakh, memento, scroll, blazer and a tie or a scarf. Award for Sports Associations He said that the State Government recognizes that the sports associations play a very important role in the promotion of sports and will continue to support them in every manner in the interest of development of sports in the state. An award for best performing sports association will be given on annual basis. The amount of award would be Rs. five lakh. The award money would be used by the association for the promotion of concerned game.
