Chandigarh March 25: Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today said that the State Government is sensitive towards the interest of people belonging to Jat Community and assured full support and cooperation of the State Government on the issue of reservation within the framework of law.
Mr Manohar Lal was addressing the leader and representatives of all Khap Panchayats and other groups of the State who had called on him here today. He said that the State Government has not cancelled the reservation to Jat Community in the State and it would continue.
The Chief Minister said that now it is legal issue and we wanted to resolve it within legal framework and ready to provide any help including the legal assistance.
He said that he has already conveyed the sentiment of the people of the community to Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. He said that a 10-members delegation of the community including Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Mr Birender Singh, Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, Agriculture Minister Mr O.P Dhankar and BJP State President Mr Subhash Barala would meet the Prime Minister tomorrow and put forth the demand on behalf of the Jat Community to resolve the issue of reservation in Centre following the decision of Supreme Court. In all, a delegation of 55 people comprising representatives from the different States would meet Mr Modi tomorrow. The Chief Minister hoped for a positive outcome of their meeting.
Mr Manohar Lal said that he is the representative of 2.5 crore people of the State and very well aware of the interest of all communities. He said that he was of the view that those who remained backward due to any reason should get the benefit of reservation so as to bring them in the mainstream. Initially reservation to Jat Community was given during the tenure of NDA Government but thereafter the UPA Government did not pursue the reservation the way it should have been and left various loopholes in the process resulting into these complications. He said that state government has also decided to grant relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit to Special Backward Classes and Economically Backward Persons in general caste category for entry in jobs in the government or government undertaking and local bodies.
Speaking on this occasion, Incharge of Party Affairs in Haryana Dr Anil Jain said that BJP is serious on this issue and is making to find out an amicable resolution. He said that a delegation of representative of Jat Community would meet Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi tomorrow and added that he was hopeful of a positive outcome.
BJP State President Mr Subhash Barala said that he along with Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, Agriculture Minister Mr O.P Dhankar had recently met BJP National President Mr Amit Shah on this issue who assured that the Party is committed to safeguard the interests of the Jat Community.
Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu and Agriculture Minister Mr O.P Dhankar also spoke on this occasion.
President of Sarv Khap Panchayat Mr Nafe Singh Nain, Spokesman Mr Sube Singh Samain, Tek Ram Kandela, Capt. K.S Sandhu, Mr Hawa Singh Sangwan, President (women) of Sarv Khap Panchayat Prof Santosh Dahiya and large number of representatives of all Khap Panchayats were also present on this occasion.
Among those others who were present included MLA Mr Mahipal Dhanda, Medial Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Amit Arya, OSD namely Capt Bhupinder and Mr Bhupeshwar Dayal and Political Advisor Mr Jagdish Chopra .
