CM discussed six priorities areas of Indian Ocean Rim Association 26-03-2015
Chandigarh, March 26 – Chair, Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Republic of Mauritius, Prof. V.N. Attri called on Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal here today and discussed six priorities areas of IORA including maritime safety and security, trade and investment facilitation, fisheries management, disaster risk management, academic, science and technology, tourism and cultural exchanges and gender empowerment. The Chief Minister said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, India is poised for 7.8 per cent growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during year 2015-16 and 8.2 per cent growth of GDP during the year 2016-17 as per estimate of Asian Development Bank. Thus, India will be the bright spot for the growth of the economics of the IORA Region as well as for global economy. It was informed that India is one of the founder members of the IORA which was established on March 7, 1997 with its Secretariat at Republic of Mauritius.
