Every grain of wheat would be lifted by the State government and its agencies in current Rabi season: CM 31-03-2015
Chandigarh, March 31 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal today reiterated that every grain of wheat would be lifted by the State government and its agencies in current Rabi season. He was replying to the queries of media persons here today. The Chief Minster said that earlier Food Corporation of India used to lift about 12 per cent of total wheat. The State has five procurement agencies and the share of FCI has been allocated among these agencies. He said that due to the untimely rain, this year there would be reduction in the production of wheat. As a result of this, the expected target of wheat procurement would also be less as against the capacity of state procurement agencies. On being asked to comment on the assistance of Rs.193.30 crore sought from the Central Government under the MGNREGA, the Chief Minister said that this amount has been sought to compensate those labourers who failed to get employment due to rain and hailstorm. Those present on this occasion included Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Agriculture Minister Mr. O.P. Dhankar, Food and Supplies Minister Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, Minister of State for Cooperation Mr. Bikram Singh and Minister of State for Food and Supplies Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj.
