  • International Yoga Day would be celebrated at Karnal on June 21: CM 13-04-2015

    Chandigarh, April 13 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the International Yoga Day would be celebrated at Karnal on June 21 and about 21,000 youngsters would participate in it.         The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting organized in this regard here today. He said that discussions would be held with Yoga Guru, Swami Ramdev for the success of International Yoga Day in the state. The Chief Minister said that Swami Ramdev who has been made the brand ambassador to promote Yoga and Ayurveda in the state would be given the status of Cabinet Minister and a function would be organized to honour him on April 21 at Panchkula. After that, a meeting will also be held with Swami Ramdev.         The Chief Minister has assigned various duties to various heads of departments in order to make the function of ‘International Yoga Day’ a success. He directed to carry out appropriate steps to make elaborate arrangements for success of the Yoga Day.      Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma suggested setting a dress code for students which was unanimously accepted by all in the meeting.         Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that the International Yoga Day would be celebrated in a big way in the state. In Haryana, Karnal has been identified to celebrate this day as it lies in the centre of the state. Apart from this, different programmes would be organized at all district headquarters on this occasion.         Mr. Vij said that alongwith common people, gurukuls, schools, colleges, students of universities, AYUSH Department, Yoga institutions, police personnel, NCC cadets, NSS and representatives of Nehru Yuva Kendras would also be included in this function. In addition, hoardings, banners, pamphlets, newspapers and television channels would be used at large scale to make people aware regarding this programme, he added.
