CM enjoyed morning walk with physically and mentally challenged people as special participants in Rahgiri programme organized in Gurgaon 19-04-2015
Chandigarh, April 19- Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today enjoyed morning walk with physically and mentally challenged people as special participants in Rahgiri programme organized in Gurgaon. In the Rahgiri programme organized at Gurgaon today, the Chief Minister walked through the 4.5 kilometers distance of Raahgiri and he indulged in various activities which were performed by the physically challenged people at different locations on the entire stretch. He was impressed to see physically challenged people playing basketball, visually impaired playing football, people playing other games, enjoying cycling, skating, children playing with balloons and other things. At Rahgiri the people had fun by playing and performing activities, reclaiming their streets. The Department of Empowerment of persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Gurgaon District Administration through joint efforts made Rahgiri programme, a memorable day for the physically challenged people so that they feel that it is an inclusive society. In his address, the Chief Minister appreciated the program and said that such programmes help in confidence building of the differently abled persons. He said that the Rahgiri programme is a motivational one and such programs should also be organized in other cities of the state. He said that physically challenged persons constitute about two percent population of the country and for bringing them into main stream of the society, their social, intellectual, physical and skill development is necessary. This would make them fit for employment. He said that government and NGOs were making efforts in this direction. Mr Manohar Lal distributed accessories and helping devices like motorized tricycle, wheel chair, hearing aid, kits for mentally challenged among physically challenged persons in the programme. The entire route for Rahgiri was full of activities. Even, the differently abled children were performing dances and other cultural events as per their wishes. Earlier, Joint Secretary, Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry, Mr Mukesh Jain welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked him for sparing time to motivate the differently abled persons. Later on, the Chief Minister also addressed a party workers meeting in Sushant Lok-1, where he appealed the workers to propagate the policies and programmes of the government to every household so that the common masses come to know the ideology of the party and they can feel the difference between the present regime and previous governments. On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla, Haryana Public Works Minister Rao Narbir Singh, MLAs Umesh Agarwal, Bimla Chaudhary and Tejpal Tanwar were also present.
