  • CM directed the officers to give a facelift to all the bus stands located on National Highway No.1 in the State 7-05-2015

    Chandigarh, May 7 – All decks have been cleared for setting up of the first of its kind ultra-modern bus stand with all new facilities with the decision of transfer of a 32 acres piece of land on Indri road in Karnal to Transport Department.             While taking this decision here today, the Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal also directed the officers to give a facelift to all the bus stands located on National Highway No.1 in the State.              The Chief Minister, who was presiding over a meeting with officers of Transport and Town and Country Planning Departments here today, said that this facility would ease traffic congestion within the town limit. He said that apart from workshop, Institute of Driver Training and Research would also be set up in the premises of new bus stand to increase road safety and impart training to drivers.             While giving direction to inspect all existing bus stands located on NH-1, the Chief Minister said that the being an important road network as far as tourism is concerned, beautification of all such bus stands should be enabled to facilitate tourists in particular and daily commuters in general.             He also directed the officers to construct city bus stand in place of the old one at Sector-12, Karnal to facilitate the local residents by way of city bus service. Apart from this, space of existing Karnal bus stand should be utilized as per the requirement of parking and commercial purposes, he added.             The Chief Minister also directed the officers to find out possibilities for opening of proposed Horticulture University announced by Union Government in Karnal district. He said that four centres of proposed University would also be opened in the state.             Later on, the Chief Minister also reviewed the development plan of Karnal town.             Those present in the meeting included Transport Minister Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, MLAs Mr. Harvinder Kalyan, Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi, Mr. Bakhshish Singh Virk, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. R.K. Khullar, OSD to Chief Minister Mr. Amrinder Singh, Mayor Karnal Municipal Corporation Mrs. Renu Bala, Additional Chief Secretary Transport Mr. S.S. Dhillon, Additional Chief Secretary Town and Country Planning Mr. P. Raghavendra Rao, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Mr. Dhanpat Singh and other senior officers.
