  • CM announced that ‘Shaheedi Mela’ would be celebrated every year on May 10 at War Memorial being set up at Ambala Cantt 11-05-2015

    Chandigarh, May 11 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal today announced that ‘Shaheedi Mela’ would be celebrated every year on May 10 at War Memorial being set up at Ambala Cantt so that people especially the youth could inspired from supreme sacrifices of brave martyrs.             The Chief Minister, who was addressing the gathering at Shaheedi Shatabdi Samman Samaroh organized by Shaheed Krantikari Aayojan Samiti in Ambala today, said that State government would provide all possible assistance for organization of the Shaheedi Mela. He urged the Samiti representatives to include local residents for organization of Mela.            The Chief Minister also announced that new bus stand of Ambala city would soon be constructed on 17 acres of land. Apart of announcing Rs.22 crore for repair of roads for Ambala city, he said that Rs.14 crore would be spent for strengthening of Ambala Cantt roads.             While paying rich tributes to martyrs, the Chief Minister said that government would also prepare a list of martyrs belonging to state and various projects would be named after such martyrs so that people could remember their supreme sacrifices for motherland. He also paid floral tributes to the martyrs on this occasion.             He said that Mughal and Britishers ruled over India for so many years. Our brave martyrs including Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhash Chander Bose had freed the nation from them and had made supreme sacrifices. Today, we will have to move forward with the similar sense for the country. We will put the nation on the same place which was thousand years back, he added.            Speaking on this occasion, Health Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that he was struggling for last 15 years for setting up War Memorial at Ambala Cantt from where light first war of independence of 1857 ignited. He raised this demand in year 2000 in state assembly. The Congress government had given assurance for setting up of the same and had fixed date for laying of foundation stone but had foundation was not laid despite the visit of then Chief Minister. MLA Mr. Aseem Goyal, grandson of Bhagat Singh Mr. Yadvendra Singh also spoke on this occasion.                 Those present included MLAs Mr. Naib Saini, Mrs. Santosh Chauhan Sarwan and a number of family members of martyrs and  prominent persons.
