  • Priority to development of Children and Women 1-05-2015

    • The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi had launched the national programme ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ from Panipat on January 22, 2015 which would be implemented in all districts of the state with special focus on 12 districts with highly imbalanced sex ratio – Mahendegarh, Jhajjar, Rewari, Sonepat, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Bhiwani and Panipat.
    • Task Force have been constituted at State Level and District Level for the success of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign and the implementation of action plan is being accelerated under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners for improving sex ratio in all districts.
    • Also, the ‘Sukanya Samridhi Khata Yojana’ of Central Government was started from Panipat on January 22, 2015. Under this, the parents are being inspired to invest on the names of their daughters and they will get maximum interest and rebate in tax.
    • ‘Aapki Beti-Hamari Beti’ Scheme was started in the state on the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2015 under which first born girl child of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and all second girl child born on or after January 22, 2015 of all families would be covered and Rs 2100 would be deposited in the bank account on the name of girl child.
    • In special cases when twin girls or more are born, the girls will be entitled to benefit at the rate of Rs 21,000 per girl child. When the girl will attain the age of 18 years, the money would increase to Rs one lakh.
    • To put a check on problem of malnutrition among children, adolescent girls and women and anemia, the State Government has launched ‘State Nutrition Mission’ on March 8, 2015.
    • Keeping in view welfare of girls and women and to provide equal opportunities of development and better environment, ‘Haryana Kanya Kosh’ has been set up under which any person or organization could donate voluntarily.
    • On the occasion of Women’s Day, District Panipat was given first prize of Rs four lakh for improvement in sex ratio, second prize to districts Rohtak and Jind and third prize to district Sonepat was given of Rs two lakh each.
    • With a view to enhance the dignity of women on the occasion of Women’s Day, Indira Gandhi Shakti Award, Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award, Khel Award for outstanding achievements and other government and social service awards were given.
    • The State Government has increased the rate of nutrition supplements for 6 to 72 months old babies from Rs 6 to Rs 7 per child per day, at a rate of Rs 9 per child per day instead of Rs 6 for highly malnourished children under the same age group and at a rate of Rs 7 instead of Rs 5 for pregnant ladies and lactating women.
