  • Chief Minister he has no right to be a spendthrift or extravagant to maintain the status of a Chief Minister: CM 22-05-2015

    • Chandigarh, May 22 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal said that as a Chief Minister he has no right to be a spendthrift or extravagant to maintain the status of a Chief Minister. His personal needs are minimum for which he has to spend just a little. His utmost duty is to serve the people of the state to justify his status of Chief Minister and to spend the funds only for their welfare.
    • The Chief Minister was responding to a query concerning his thrifty habit to maintain his daily schedule during Shaurya Samman function organized by a TV channel here. “I have never spent to show the status of a Chief Minister. As far as personal expenditure is concerned, I am only confined to being Manohar Lal”, he added.
    • He said that the State government has also increased the expenditure and outlay wherever required. In case of Police Department, he said that 500 new motorcycles have been provided for effective patrolling and Rs.550 crore has been sanctioned for construction of houses for police personnel. Adequate funds have been given for system and infrastructure, he added.
    • The Chief Minister said that menace of corruption could not only be eliminated by way of law and punishment. “Although it is tough and challenging task to root out it completely yet I am sure people would keep distance from it with our strong appeal and ideals.” It is believed that corruption moves from top to bottom. There were several cases of involvement of political leaders in corruption that resulted in notional loss to nation worth crore of rupees. We have also appealed the officers to stay away from the lust of money and assets. We rely on our employees and a time will come when they would also keep a tap on corruption. The previous government had ruled the state for their own pleasure and delight. Our thought is different as power and authority shall not be used to attain political benefits. Riding on such thoughts, we will definitely take the country, state and society forward, he added.
    • The Chief Minister said that present government is working with sensitivity and had understood the farmers’ pains in their hour of crises. We have completed girdawari in record time and had sanctioned compensation of Rs.1092 crore to farmers for their crop loss which is the highest ever amount of compensation given to farmers for a single crop in the country. He said that entire amount of compensation would be disbursed by May 31 and in case, anyone could not get the same, he could obtain compensation during next 15 days from concerned tehsil centres, he added.
    • He said that he had worked with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for six years. It is a matter of pride that his name is associated with Mr. Modi for style of governance. The Prime Minister had met the people’s expectation in one year. Similarly, Haryana Government had done a lot for people welfare following the ideology of Prime Minister.
