Sportspersons of Haryana are welcome to make suggestions for the promotion of sports in the state and these would be incorporated in the Sports Policy: CM 31-05-2015
Chandigarh, May 31–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said sportspersons of Haryana are welcome to make suggestions for the promotion of sports in the state and these would be incorporated in the Sports Policy. He made this offer while addressing the gathering at the Great Karnal Run organized in Karnal, today. Sports is being promoted to make the youth energetic, strong and well built and develop the state as a sports hub. Vyayamshalas would be opened in all villages but for this, the concerned village panchayat would have to donate two acres of land. Mr. Manohar Lal said that marathon run not only helped in improving the health of a person, but also in connecting people to the society. Such programmes should be organized on Sundays and on holidays so that every person feels refreshed after the marathon. Marathon makes all people, including the youth, mentally and physically strong. Recently, a marathon was organized at Panchkula in which about 20,000 people from different parts of the state participated. During the last seven months, sports events and competitions are being held continuously at various places in the state, he added. The state government had announced new Sports Policy on January 12, 2015 and sports, vyayam and yoga have been included in it. According to the policy, vyayamshalas would be opened in all villages where all women and children would play or do exercise. Increased financial help to sportspersons has also been announced in the policy. One winning gold medal in Olympics would get Rs 6 crore; Rs 4 crore would be given to the winner of silver medal; and Rs 2.5 crore for bronze. The award money of other players too has been enhanced. The future of players in the state is very bright, he added.
