Chandigarh June 27 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal said that on the basis of their population, two smart cities would be developed in Haryana for which parameters have been set and a survey would be conducted in this regard by July 21.
The Chief Minister was interacting with media persons at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak today. He said that those cities which fulfil the set parameters would be kept in the category of developing these as smart cities. He said that other cities which would fulfill these parameters by next year; could also enter the category of becoming smart cities. He said that for this, facilities like infrastructure, education, medical facility, electricity, water and participation of people would be checked. He said that this challenge is being kept in India for the first time that citizens of the country can contribute in deciding the development approach of their cities. He said that this competitive system would pave the way for people-centered urban development.
The Chief Minister said that apart from smart city, the Central Government led by Mr Modi has also started Atal Mission for Rejuventation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Awas Yojana. He said that 500 cities throughout India would be developed under AMRUT and a target has been set to construct two crore houses for all in urban areas by next seven years under Awas Yojana. He said that 500 cities were being identified under AMRUT.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited General Hospital, Rohtak and inspected the AYUSH Department. He directed the officers to promote AYUSH as five old systems of medicine fall under it. These are Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, Siddha and Homeopathy which are very useful for humanity.
