Chandigarh, July 8- Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today announced to set up a coaching centre in the state to enable the students belonging to Scheduled Castes to prepare for examinations of Indian Allied Services and Haryana Civil Service.
The Chief Minister, who was paying tributes to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary during the 'bhoomi pujan' ceremony for construction of building of Ambedkar Bhawan at Karnal today, also announced that a University in the state and a road in Karnal would be named after Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
He said that Babasaheb struggled throughout his life for the rights of the poor and weaker sections of the society. He also strived hard to promote equality and brotherhood. He described Dr Ambedkar as the father of Indian Constitution and said that despite many difficulties, he promoted education among the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. He also urged the people to make a resolution to educate their children and go forward in society.
The Chief Minister said that BJP government has made many schemes for the welfare of weaker sections, the poor, farmers and others. He said that in education sector, while on one hand stipend is being given and on the other, girls are being given cycles and laptops free of cost under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Programme. The state government has also increased the incentive of inter-caste marriage from Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh and for the marriage of widow, Rs 41,000 is being given. While referring to the issue of seniority of Scheduled Castes employees, he assured to fulfill the demand of giving them promotion in class III category, but added that it has been stayed by the Court. The state government is making efforts to ensure such employees get the benefit.
He directed the concerned officers to get the map of Ambedkar Bhawan passed at the earliest possible so that the construction work of the Bhawan could soon be started.
Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Krishan Bedi said that Dr Ambedkar was the well-wisher of the poor, who has worked for the welfare of not only one section, but the whole society and also worked to eradicate evil practices from the society. He said that BJP is such a party which would help the poor in getting their rights. The Chief Minister himself has taken initiative to end any kind of bias in the state.
