Chandigarh, August 9 –Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today announced that a new NCC academy would be set up at Gharaunda in district Karnal and efforts would be made to upgrade a Sainik School of the state as Sainik College so as to provide the youth with maximum opportunities to get into defence services.
The Chief Minister was speaking on the occasion of 55th Foundation Day celebrations of Sainik School, Kunjpura in Karnal today.
The Chief Minister said that though a second Sainik School is already operational in Rewari yet if needed, a new Sainik School would be opened as youth here are enthusiastic to join defence services. He said that the youth here after getting into defence services want to serve the people of the country.
Mr Manohar Lal said that for the all round development of the youth of Haryana, the state government is making available all resources. He said that August 9 is an important day in the history. It was on this day in 1942 that our promising soldiers, revolutionaries and patriots started Quit India movement against the British.
While recalling his childhood wish to study in a Sainik School, the Chief Minister said that but after laying foundation stone of hostel and taking guard of honour from cadets he was highly elated. He said that the state government would provide every possible support to Sainik School. He said that over 700 students passed out of this school and have got into National Defence Academy, besides this students are rendering their services in other areas too which is a matter of great pride.
He said that this school was set up in 1961 and since then this school is on the path of progress and children who are taking admission to this school are very fortunate. This school has given this country hundreds of defence officers, who are still serving the country. At present, 432 students are studying in this school. He wished for brighter future of all students.
He said that the state government is setting up Vyayamshalas in every village in order to encourage traditional sports in the state. He said that new sports policy has been formulated to encourage sports under which players are given cash incentive and opportunities to move forward. He said that besides sports, steps are being taken to improve quality of education . For raising the level of Education, Advisory Committee has been constituted. All those youth in the state who are deprived of education would be provided skill development training so as to increase their capability for employment.
Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes to those martyrs who had laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. He laid the foundation stone of New Courtyard Hostel Block of the school and inaugurated the building of hostel built at a cost of Rs five crore.
The Chief Minister planted a sapling of Rudraksh and distributed five sapling to each of the 100 families living in Sainik School. He also inaugurated a hospitality building which has been built at a cost of Rs 1.47 crore at Babu Moolchand Jain Government Industrial Training Institute, Kunjpura.
