Chandigarh, August 26 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today laid the foundation stone of Alumni Forest Park in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak and planted a sapling to mark the occasion.
Haryana Finance and Environment Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, Minister of State for Forest, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj, State BJP President, Mr. Subhash Barala, MLA Rohtak, Mr. Manish Grover were also present on the occasion and they also planted saplings in the Alumni Park.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal informed that this unique Alumni Forest Park would spread over an area of 3.5 acres. The alumni of the university would, on their visits to varsity campus, be able to plant sapling in this park which would help in improving the environment. He informed that MDU’s future plans include establishing Vaidik Garden and Arboretum on the campus.
The Chief Minister also presented saplings to 40 women who are residents of MDU campus to plant these at their houses under the ‘Har Ghar Hariyali-Haryana Ki Khushhali’ scheme.
Hundreds of prominent MDU alumni from all walks of life took part in this programme and planted saplings.
Senior functionaries of Forest and Wild Life Department, officers and officials of District administration, Registrar of the University, Dr. S.P. Vats and University administration functionaries, office bearers of MDU Teachers’ Association, and Non-Teaching Association, office bearers of the MDU Alumni Association, faculty members, employees and students were present on the occasion.
