Chandigarh, October 5 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, was today presented with a cheque of Rs 58,40,470 as dividend of Haryana State Warehousing Corporation for the year 2013-14 here today.
Minister of State for Food and Supplies, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, Mr. Dhanpat Singh, and Managing Director, Haryana Warehousing Corporation, Dr. Suprabha Dahiya presented the cheque to the Chief Minister.
The Corporation was set up on November 1, 1967 with a meagre storage capacity of 7,000 Metric Tonnes (MT), which has increased to 17,57,339 MT, till date. Overall percentage of utilisation is 85 per cent. During the year 2014-15, godowns of 1,36,290 MT capacity at eight different locations were made storage-worthy by the Corporation in the State under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). During the year 2015-16, the Corporation is constructing 31,174 MT capacity godowns under the Gramin Bhandaran Yojana (GBY).
Besides, the Corporation is also operating an Inland Container Depot-cum-Container Freight Station at Rewari to provide cost-effective services to the importers and exporters of Haryana. The operations are being handled by CONCOR, a subsidiary of Indian Railways.
The Coprporation also runs Farmers Extension Service Scheme (FESS) and Dis-infestation Extension Service Scheme (DESS), under which the stocks of farmers, cooperatives, traders and other agencies are dis-infested in their homes and godowns.
