  • Cyber City Gurgaon would soon get 24-hour power supply on the pattern of world-class cities with the help of sophisticated technology under a new Rs 7,000-crore scheme. 9-10-2015

    • Chandigarh, 9 October – Cyber City Gurgaon would soon get 24-hour power supply on the pattern of world-class cities with the help of sophisticated technology under a new Rs 7,000-crore scheme. In this regard, a meeting was held between Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New  and Renewable Energy, Mr. Piyush Goyal at New Delhi.
    • The positive outcome of this would become visible over the next one year. The Government has taken a step forward to make Gurgaon generator and diesel-free.
    • During the meeting, several senior officials concerned of the Central and State Governments held discussions regarding technical and financial aspects of making 24-hour power supply available to Gurgaon, besides other topics.
    •             Mr. Goyal assured the Chief Minister that the Central Government would provide all possible help to the Haryana Government for this ‘smart beginning’ for the Smart City  Gurgaon.
    • The Chief Minister said that Gurgaon was amongst the most prominent cities of not just the State, but of the whole country. He added that the State Government has envisioned that uninterrupted power supply would be provided to the city. The Power Minister discussed this matter with the  power officials as well.  
    • Mr. Manohar Lal said that in the first phase of this Rs 7,000-crore policy, work of modern distribution system would be done to ensure 24-hour power supply to Sectors 1 to 57 of  Gurgaon. He added that the work to develop Smart Grid of power in  Gurgaon would be done keeping in mind the needs of the people over the next 15 to 20 years.
    • Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Power, Mr. Rajan Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Mr. P.K. Das and Deputy  Commissioner, Gurgaon, Mr. T.L. Satyaprakash were also present on the occasion.
    • Later on, while interacting with media persons, Mr. Goyal said that Haryana had inherited losses amounting to Rs 30,000 crore through the power companies. Strict decisions have been taken with the ChiefMinister to mitigate these losses through the medium of Discom Solution and prevent losses in future.
    •             Interacting with media persons, Mr Manohar Lal said that it is the dream of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi that every citizen of India should get his own home by the year 2022. He said that the state government is also making efforts in this direction. Effective Affordable Housing Scheme is being  implemented in the state so as to ensure housing for all.
