Chandigarh, October 14 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal said that the report regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan prepared by Sub Group of Chief Ministers has been presented to Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Convener of the Sub Group of Chief Ministers Mr Chandrababu Naidu in the presence of Uttrakhand Chief Minister Mr Harish Rawat at New Delhi today.
Interacting with the media persons after handing over report to the Prime Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that no State would oppose this report as there is nothing contradictory in it. All the States have agreed upon this report prepared by Sub Group of Chief Ministers. He said that he has put forth the suggestion to impose cess on oil, diesel, telecom, mines and coal for the funding and success of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He said that people would welcome this suggestion.
Mr Manohar Lal said that the Union Government and the State Government would bear the expenditure of the Abhiyan in the ratio of 75:25 per cent. He said that the aid of social and religious institutes would be taken to change the habits of the people with regard to the Abhiyan and that it would also be included in the syllabus of the students. Promotional Programmes on the Abhiyan should be organized on monthly basis. The Prime Minister has praised this report of Sub Group which would prove to be a mile stone in the successful implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he added.
