Chandigarh, December 15 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, today visited ‘Newscapes 3’, an exhibition of works by photojournalists of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali being organised by Chandigarh Press Club at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh, in memory of eminent photojournalist, late Mr. Yog Joy, from December 14 to 16, 2015. Interacting with the photo journalists after taking a round of the exhibition, the Chief Minister said that photographs not only give a glimpse into reality, but also inspire emotions and serve as a reminder of special moments.
Expressing appreciation for the hard work put in by photojournalists, Mr. Manohar Lal said that they often had to face dangerous situations to get the perfect shot, and their dedication to their craft and their hard work should be recognised and awarded. He added that incentives in the form of photography competitions would help to encourage and motivate the photojournalists and asked the Press Club management to make provision for such competitions. The Chief Minister also asked the Press Club management to ensure a platform to make the photo exhibition a round-the-year feature and said that the Haryana Government would provide assistance in this direction.
He added that this permanent exhibition should include rare or exceptional photographs, and the display should also be rotated to accommodate new photographs. Punjab Arts Council chairperson, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, and Chandigarh Press Club president, Mr. Balwinder Singh Jammu, also spoke on the occasion. Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Amit Arya, and OSD to Chief Minister, Mr. Jawahar Yadav were also present on the occasion.
