Chandigarh, February 4 –On the initiative of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, the Haryana Power Department took a significant step forward to ensure ease of doing business and eliminate “Inspector Raj” by introducing self certification scheme of electrical installations.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Haryana is the first State to introduce such self certification upto 33 KV voltage level for both the existing as well as new installations.
This scheme will benefit about 14 lakh consumers per year by saving their time and money as they would not have to visit any office of electricity department for inspection and certification. He said that at present all the existing as well as new electrical installations are required to be inspected by the office of the Chief Electrical Inspector or engineers of the State DISCOMS. The owners of electrical installations of voltage upto 33KV level would now get their installations tested and inspected by the authorized Chartered Electrical Safety Engineers for ensuring observance of safety measures in their installations and issue self certification report. He said that for convenience of electricity consumers and streamline the process of self certification, the government will authorize more than 500 Chartered Electrical Safety Engineers throughout the state.
Self certification scheme will speed up the process of the release of new electricity supply connections to consumers. He said that the move has been taken for the convenience of the people of Haryana and would prove to be a milestone in overall economic development of the State as a whole.
