  • Budget of Rs three crore has been released to each Zila Parishad for development works: CM 16-05-2016

    • Chandigarh, May 16 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has urged newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Zila Parishads to work with  dedication   to make programmes related to education, cleanliness, social security pension and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ a grand success in their respective areas. He also announced that budget of Rs three crore has been released to each Zila Parishad for development works.
    • The Chief Minister was presiding over the meeting of newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Zila Parishads here today.
    • The Chief Minister said that it was being considered to increase the house rent allowance given to Chairmen of Zila Parishad. Regarding their powers, he said that the government was laying emphasis on decentralisation of power and public representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) could be assigned more responsibilities. He said that the government was making arrangement for social audit to prepare estimates of development works. Therefore, an 11-member committee would be constituted in each village with consent of gram sabha.
    • Giving suggestions for generating new sources of income for Zila Parishads, the Chief Minister said that commercial establishments could be operated on land belonging to Zila Parishad. He also asked them to organise yoga programmes in their respective areas on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.
    • Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar urged the public representatives to take initiative to end factionism in villages and maintain unity and brotherhood. He said that about 72,000 representatives have been elected to the PRIs, most of whom followed the ideology of BJP.
    • Mr. Dhankar suggested that members of Zila Parishads should set a target to resolve one issue in their area every year. He said that this year they should undertake to resolve all issues related to social security pensions in the form of a mission.
    • Mr. Dhankar informed   that as a result of the steps taken by the State Government for women empowerment, women have been elected to the posts of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson in Panchkula, Fatehabad, Panipat and Karnal Zila Parishads.a
