Chandigarh, June 26 –The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today felicitated five youths of Hisar division for their outstanding work in the field of drug de-addiction and urged the youth of the state to avoid drugs and channelize their energies in constructive activities.
The Chief Minister was speaking at ‘Youth Against Drugs’ programme organised on the occasion of the ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse’ in Hisar, today.
Reiterating the state government’s resolve to end drug abuse in Haryana, he said that as many as 53 de-addiction centres were operating in the state. With a view to channelizing the energy of the youth towards constructive activities and providing job opportunities, 1,000 gymnasiums would be set up in the state this year and the ‘Haryana Kaushal Mission’ programme is implementing to promote skill development. The police are taking strict action against those indulging in drug trade, he added.
Describing drug abuse and addiction as a social evil, he urged the people to stay away from drugs and teach the youth good values. He asked the youth of Hisar to visit different villages and spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and alcoholism.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also launched ‘I support drug-free Haryana’ social media portal. On this occasion, IGP Hisar Range, Mr O.P. Singh also spoke.
