Chandigarh, July 26- Australia has agreed to share its expertise with Haryana in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairying, Infrastructure, Smart Cities and Sports particularly in prevention and treatment of sports injuries.
The Australian High Commissioner to India, Mrs Harinder Sidhu, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal here today, discussed various issues of mutual cooperation between Australia and Haryana. She evinced keen interest in the developmental strides made by Haryana and offered cooperation of Australia in further strengthening bilateral relations.
The Chief Minister described Haryana as a leading state in sports and the government is promoting sports and physical fitness among the youth. He sought cooperation of Australia to further develop Motilal School of Sports, Rai. He also said that Haryana, which has the best medical facilities, is also known as a developing medical tourism hub, especially in Gurgaon. However, he said that there was ample scope to improve the facilities in the field of sports injuries. The injured sportspersons, in case of need, have to go abroad for their treatment.
Mrs Harinder Sidhu was all praise for the sports culture in Haryana and said that Haryana is also being recognized as a developing sports economy which could offer many jobs in sports sector like sports trainers, coaches, sports manager, fitness trainers, fitness advisors.
The Chief Minister also invited Mrs Sidhu to join the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Haryana starting from November 1, 2016. He said that the State Government was planning various initiatives for the year long celebrations. He said that a Horticulture University was also being set up in Karnal.
It was also informed in the meeting that State was also developing integrated multi modal logistic hub including a dry port as a part of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project. This ambitious project will prove to be driver for the future growth of the state in which Australia can also make commercial ties by sharing their skills and expertise.
Those present in the meeting included Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij, Chief Secretary, Mr D.S.Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Mr Devender Singh, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Mr Sudhir Rajpal, members of the delegation, First Secretary, Economic, Ms Tanya Spisbah, Business Development Manager, Mr Ashish Sharma and Media and Advocacy Officer, Ms Vartika Barsi Sethi.
