  • CM dedicated a number of facilities under Smart Gram initiative in the villages adopted by the President of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee in districts, Gurugram and Nuh 11-11-2016

    • Chandigarh, Nov 11 – The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today dedicated a number of facilities under Smart Gram initiative in the villages adopted by the President of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee in districts, Gurugram and Nuh. He also inaugurated office of Smart Gram Consortium at village Alipur. The villages adopted by the President included Alipur, Harchandpur and Daula in district Gurugram and Rojkameo of district Nuh.
    • It was informed that the Smart Gram scheme would be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the focus would be on provision of basic facilities like drinking water, regular power supply, sanitation and solid waste management, clean fuel for cooking, housing, e-Doctor facility, SmartGram wellness centre, affordable integrated healthcare, quality education and training for skill development. Also, there would be e-Governance facilities through IT increasing the opportunities of employment. Similarly, in the second phase, emphasis would be laid on women empowerment, improving quality of education and maintaining harmony in villages.
    • Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has paved the way for development of villages as well as the cities. The Prime Minister has implemented the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, on the pattern of which Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana has also been implemented in Haryana.
    • Expressing his happiness over the initiative of the President,   to adopt five villages of Haryana for development as Smart Villages, the Chief Minister said that the Central and State Governments, NGOs, industries and corporate houses were working together for providing facilities in these villages. The infrastructure in these villages is being upgraded, skill development centres have been opened for making the rural youth employable, and healthcare and education facilities are being taken care of, he added.
    • Criticising the previous governments for neglecting the development of villages, Mr. Manohar Lal said that after the initiative of the Prime Minister, now care was being taken for development of villages. When Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and Vidhayak Adarsh Gram Yojana were implemented, only 105 villages were covered, but there are 6,700 villages in the state. Therefore, a new scheme namely ‘Swa-prerit Adarsh Gram Yojana’ was framed for development of all villages, under which cooperation of the people belonging to Haryana was sought, who are residing abroad or elsewhere in the country to adopt their villages or nearby villages and develop them. Many have started extending their support according to their potential, he added.
    • The Chief Minister also inaugurated the upgraded infrastructure at Udyog Kunj in village Alipur. He also inaugurated Water ATM at Rojkameo, besides upgradation of power distribution network, construction of internal roads and repair of drains, installation of Solar Panel and LED lights, setting up of SmartGram Training Centres, inauguration of Smart Gram Arogya centres, Common Service Centres and Wi-Fi facilities in all  these four villages and addressed the villagers. An e-Doctor Clinic was also started in village Daula. Skill Development Centre has also been set up in Udyog Kunj, Alipur. He also inaugurated NIFTEM training centres for women at villages Harchandpur and Daula. The Chief Minister also flagged off Skill Training Mobile Van.
    • The Secretary to the President, Mrs. Omita Paul said that a great change had been wrought in these villages because of the combined efforts of all those who had united under the Smart Gram Consortium. She said that Smart Gram meant a village which was humanly, hi-tech and prosperous, and where harmony, happiness and life was ensured to all villagers. A Smart Gram would have the required basic physical and social infrastructure with a layer of smart information and communication embedded in the infrastructure to improve governance and delivery of services, livelihood and economic opportunities. She said that the focus was on sustainable and inclusive development model which could be easily adopted. The model is based on the combined efforts and resources of the Central and State Governments, District Administration, Panchayati Raj Institutions, public sector, private sector and villagers, she added.
    • The Chief Minister was accompanied by Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, and Member of Legislative Assembly, Sohna, Mr. Tejpal Tanwar.
    • Others present on this occasion included, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayats, Mrs. Navraj Sandhu, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Devender Singh, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Director of President’s Secretariat, Mr. N.K. Sudhanshu, Vice-Chancellor of NIFTEM, Dr. Ajit Kumar, Mr. Sanjiv Dixit from Max Life, Dr. Praful Naik from Prashak Techno Enterprises, and other prominent personalities of the area.
